Privacy policy

Solar Now shows your home’s solar production and energy use on your Samsung TV. It reads this information directly from your Enphase IQ Gateway on your home network. This policy explains what Solar Now handles and where it goes.
Who we are
Solar Now is made by Joe Beuckman, an individual developer, who is responsible for the information described here. Questions or requests about your information: support@beuckman.com.
What Solar Now handles
- Your Enphase email and password. They are used to sign in to Enphase and get an access key for your gateway. If you sign in with the TV remote, they go straight from the TV to Enphase. If you sign in with your phone, they go to the Solar Now sign-in service, which uses them only in memory to sign in to Enphase and then discards them. Your password is never stored or logged.
- The gateway access key, issued by Enphase for your gateway.
- Your energy readings: production, home use, grid import and export, and per-panel output, along with history Solar Now copies from your Enphase account when you sign in.
- Your email address, saved on the TV and on your phone (if you sign in there), so you don’t have to type it again.
- Your gateway’s address and serial number. The address is kept on the TV so it can find the gateway again. The serial number is sent to Enphase to get an access key for the right gateway, and to the Solar Now sign-in service whenever the sign-in screen shows a phone sign-in code.
- Your internet address (IP address) is seen by the Solar Now sign-in service when the TV or your phone contacts it. It is used only to limit repeated sign-in attempts and is erased within a few hours.
- Your home network. To find the gateway, Solar Now briefly checks which devices on your home network answer like an Enphase gateway. Nothing about other devices is kept or sent anywhere.
Where it’s kept
- The access key, your energy readings and your email address are kept on your TV, inside the Solar Now app. They are not sent to the Solar Now developer.
- When you sign in with your phone, the Solar Now sign-in service (run by the developer on Amazon Web Services in the United States) receives your email and password, the resulting access key, and your history from Enphase. Your password is used only in memory and never stored. The access key and history are deleted as soon as your TV collects them; if they are never collected, they expire after 10 minutes and are then erased automatically, normally within 48 hours. Its error logs contain no personal information and are kept for 14 days.
Sharing
Solar Now doesn’t sell, rent or share your information, and doesn’t use advertising or analytics. Your information goes only to Enphase (to sign you in and read your data) and to the services described above.
Your choices
- Sign out: press OK on the TV and choose Sign out. Solar Now forgets the access key and stops reading your gateway.
- Delete your data: choose Sign out and delete my data to also remove all saved energy history.
- Uninstalling the TV app removes everything Solar Now saved on the TV.
- Your account and data at Enphase are covered by Enphase’s own privacy policy and aren’t changed by Solar Now.
Your rights
You can sign out and delete your data at any time from the app, as described above. Apart from the short-lived sign-in records, the developer doesn’t keep your information, so there is nothing further to access or delete. Solar Now doesn’t sell or share personal information, as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act, and doesn’t use it for advertising. To ask what the developer holds about you or to have it deleted, email support@beuckman.com; you’ll get an answer within 30 days.
Do Not Track
Solar Now doesn’t track you across other apps or websites, so it treats every request the same whether or not a browser or device sends a “Do Not Track” signal.
Children
Solar Now isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change too.
Solar Now is an independent app and is not made or endorsed by Enphase Energy.
